The story behind our new visual identity.
Why Quran.com, its apps, and
the growing Quran Foundation
family now share
one identity
- and what comes next.
Quran.org is your launchpad to the premier digital resources to experience and study the Quran, reviewed by qualified scholars and trusted by millions of users worldwide. This growing suite of sites and apps – with Quran.com at their heart – is overseen by Quran Foundation.
By the generosity of Allah, what began as access to the Quran now carries the possibility of something much greater. When a reading experience used by millions becomes better, millions of encounters with the Quran become better.
When trusted scholarly content is attached digitally to an ayah, a lesson can continue benefiting people far beyond the room where it was taught. Opening reliable Quranic resources and technology to developers allows one investment to enable many beneficial experiences across developers and institutions beyond Quran Foundation.
Quran 14:1
Allah revealed the Quran to His Messenger Muhammad ﷺ so that, by His permission, people may be brought from darkness into light.
Good can multiply.
Quran Foundation envisions a world transformed by revealed guidance, through hearts deeply connected to the Quran and Sunnah. Allah revealed the Quran to His Messenger Muhammad ﷺ so that, by His permission, people may be brought from darkness into light. (Quran 14:1)
Today that reach is in the millions. By Allah’s permission, the aspiration is to reach one billion and beyond, helping them read, understand, reflect upon, and live more deeply by the Quran through resources built, supported, or enabled through this work. Behind that number are individual hearts: a child learning with a parent, a new Muslim looking for somewhere trustworthy, a teacher preparing a lesson, someone returning to Allah, or a person opening the Quran at a moment that changes the course of a life.
The outcome belongs to Allah; the responsibility is to strive with ihsan.

Advancing accuracy and trust for the Quran in AI
Each serves a different part of the journey with the Quran.
Together, they can do far more than any one platform could do alone. Reading can
lead naturally to tafsir and learning. Reflection can remain connected to the
ayah that inspired it. One account can eventually make it easier to continue
across experiences. Shared Quran infrastructure can support developers and
institutions beyond Quran Foundation itself.
A common identity makes that
relationship visible and gives the family room to grow without losing sight of
its center.
What are Quran Foundation and
Quran.org?
Quran Foundation is the nonprofit behind Quran.com, the Quran apps, and a growing family of trusted, scholar-guided platforms and resources used by millions worldwide. Quran.org is your gateway to discovering all that the Foundation offers.
For most people, the journey begins with Quran.com, a trusted destination for reading, listening to, understanding, and reflecting on the Quran. Our iOS and Android apps extend that experience, making it easier to connect with the Quran wherever you are.
Quran.com sits at the centre of a family that also includes Quran For Devs, Quran Space, Quran.org, QuranReflect, Quran Labs and the Quran App Store.
Quran.org opens the door to the wider work of Quran Foundation. It offers a central place to discover our platforms and explore how each can support your journey with the Quran, from reflection through QuranReflect and shared study through Quran Space to developer tools, Quran Labs, and our work to advance trustworthy, scholar-guided AI.
The principle behind the names is deliberately simple: keep the Quran at the forefront. Quran.com. QuranReflect. Quran Space. Quran Labs. Quran.ai. Quran for Developers. Different platforms, one mission: helping humanity build a deeper, lifelong connection with the Quran.
What does this mean for
Quran.com?
The standard being pursued for Quran.com is higher still, and a great deal of work is going into reaching it.
The ambition is a world-class experience for engaging with the Quran: beautiful without distracting from the text, intuitive without losing depth, powerful without becoming complicated, and useful whether someone has come for one ayah or returns every day.
Reading, navigation, search, discovery, tafsir, reflection, learning, personalization, accessibility, performance, and the connections between them are all areas of active improvement. This visual identity is part of that work, not the end of it.
The familiarity Quran.com has earned also matters. It has accompanied people through Ramadan nights, memorization, study, teaching, grief, uncertainty, and years of daily reading. Improvements deserve the same care as the trust that has built up over time.
The aim is for every visit to feel easier, calmer, and more useful, while opening better paths for those who want to go deeper.
Quran Foundation is the nonprofit behind Quran.com and its apps,
and their continued care and improvement remain central. The same foundation
also allows work done once to benefit more widely: shared Quran infrastructure
can serve other platforms, trusted scholarship can appear in more places, and
technology built for Quran.com can help enable what others build next.
The
benefit grows without moving the Quran from the center.
What inspired this visual
identity?
At the center of the system is: The Quran.
The mark begins with the word itself because nothing should be more recognizable across these platforms than what they are here to serve.
Allah ﷻ says in Quran 9:40
The word of Allah is the highest.
And in Quran 6:115
And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words.
Calligrapher Salwa Faour developed the wordmark through extensive sketching and refinement, basing it on the Thuluth tradition and adding distinctive features that reflect the project's vision. The aim was to create something rooted in a visual heritage shaped by centuries of Muslim devotion, scholarship, and craftsmanship, while bridging that heritage with a modern, contemporary look and feel that works naturally across the digital spaces where millions now encounter the Quran.
Arabic calligraphy made something especially fitting possible. The word قرآن can be recomposed into a circle, teardrop, heart, square, and other forms while preserving the same letters and identity. This became the organizing idea for the family: Quran.com can have its own expression, QuranReflect another, Quran Space another, while each remains unmistakably connected to the same Quran.
Technology will change. Screens will change. Products will change. The ways people read, search, study, and communicate will continue to change. The Quran remains.
The same word, recomposed: a rounded tablet, a circle, a rounded square, a teardrop, an eight-pointed star, a speech bubble, a heart and a crescent — each one still reading as Quran.
Why do typography and
color matter?
When millions of people engage with the Quran through a screen, typography, spacing, contrast, hierarchy, and navigation are not minor details. They influence how easily someone can stay with an ayah, follow a translation, explore tafsir, or find what they came looking for.
The broader identity uses Figtree for its clarity and warmth. The letter Q was redrawn with a subtle reference to the tip of the qalam, the pen, recalling Allah as the One
Quran 96:4
Who taught by the pen.
Translations deserved particular care. For millions of people, they are the primary doorway into the meanings of the Quran. Their typography should invite sustained reading and give the text a calm, dignified presence on the page. The wider system must also serve readers far beyond English, so IBM Plex and Noto help extend that same attention across languages and writing systems around the world.
Inspired by guidance in Quran 96:1
Read, ˹O Prophet,˺ in the Name
of your Lord Who created
Quran 35:27
Do you not see that Allāh sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades and [some] extremely black.
Color has a practical role as well. Quran.com, QuranReflect, Quran Space, and future platforms do different things, and each should be easy to recognize. A broad palette allows them to develop their own character while the shared wordmark, typography, and visual language make their relationship clear.
The result is a system that can grow without becoming fragmented: distinct experiences, visibly belonging to one family.
Quran 35:28
Just as people, living beings, and cattle are of various colours as well. Of all of Allah’s servants, only the knowledgeable ˹of His might˺ are ˹truly˺ in awe of Him. Allah is indeed Almighty, All-Forgiving.
How was the identity
developed?
With care, consultation, and considerably more iteration than anyone expected.
The identity was developed through a close collaboration between Gould Studio and Quran Foundation, with contributions from volunteers, advisors, scholars, and people who have spent years building and caring for these platforms.
Seemingly small choices often led to serious discussion. Was a color too bright? Did the typography feel timeless? Would the mark remain clear at the size of an app icon? Would the system work across languages? Could each platform feel distinct without losing the connection between them?
Ideas were challenged. Decisions were revisited. Perspectives were sought through shura. Questions were taken to scholars when appropriate. The work was refined again and again.
No visual identity can do justice to the Quran itself. The standards are high: If something can be made clearer, more beautiful, more thoughtful, or more beneficial for the person seeking the Book of Allah, it deserves the effort.
This identity is a beginning, not an endpoint. Insha’Allah, it will continue to be refined as the platforms grow and as we learn from the people who use them every day. Your feedback will help shape what comes next, insha’Allah.
Why does trust matter so much
now?
For much of the internet’s history, the challenge was gaining access to Islamic knowledge. Today, information is everywhere. Knowing what deserves trust is harder.
Search results, social media, videos, anonymous commentary, and artificial intelligence can place careful scholarship beside error with very little to distinguish between them. A person can now ask a question about the Quran and receive an immediate, polished answer without knowing whether the verse was represented accurately, where the explanation came from, or whether a scholarly opinion has been faithfully conveyed.
Allah ﷻ says in Quran 17:36
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart, about all those one will be questioned.
As this landscape changes, trusted digital spaces become increasingly important.
Quran.ai, Quran MCP, and related work are being developed to help keep new forms of engagement connected to verified Quran text, translations, tafsir, and authentic scholarship. AI can make information easier to reach, but ease must not come at the cost of knowing the source of the information. Scholarship must remain authoritative, with technology serving as a means of reaching it.
There is a larger opportunity as well. Trusted Quranic APIs, open-source tools, Quran MCP, and shared resources can support developers, researchers, educators, and organizations beyond Quran Foundation. Work done carefully once can continue creating benefit across many future products and experiences.
What comes next?
The new identity is the beginning of a larger phase of work. Quran.com and its iOS and Android apps will continue to receive close care and continued improvement, insha’Allah. A great deal is already underway across reading, navigation, search, tafsir, learning, reflection, accessibility, performance, and the many details that shape how millions of people engage with the Quran each day.
The standard is high. Quran.com should offer a world-class experience for engaging with the Book of Allah: calm and beautiful without distraction, simple to use without losing depth, and useful whether someone comes for a single ayah or returns every day. There is still much to improve, and the work will continue, insha’Allah, with care, urgency, and the feedback of the people who rely on these resources.
Beyond Quran.com, QuranReflect can become a richer place for thoughtful reflection with scholarly oversight. Teachers and scholars can have better ways to share knowledge. Developers can build on trusted Quran infrastructure instead of starting from the beginning. New technology can be explored carefully where it can genuinely help people reach authentic knowledge.
The visual identity brings these efforts together. The experience built upon it is what matters most.
How can the benefit grow
beyond one platform?
Quran Foundation is the nonprofit behind Quran.com, its apps, and
the wider family of Quranic resources. Much of what has become possible began
with people who knew Quran.com, benefited from it, and generously chose to
support it. That support continues to strengthen Quran.com and its apps, while
also making it possible for the same scholarship, technology, and infrastructure
to benefit people in more ways.
Work done once can continue giving.
A scholar’s contribution can help someone studying an ayah on Quran.com, strengthen a lesson elsewhere, and become available through trusted infrastructure to new tools built by others. A reliable Quran API can save developers from rebuilding the same foundation. A resource created for one platform can help a teacher, a parent, an imam, or a student somewhere else in the world.
The more these efforts reinforce one another, the further the benefit can travel.
The vision is a world transformed by revealed guidance, through hearts deeply connected to the Quran and Sunnah. A person grows closer to the Quran and its guidance enters a home. A parent shares it with a child, a teacher brings it to a classroom, a scholar reaches people across the world, or a developer builds something that serves millions more. Only Allah knows how far one sincere effort may reach.
May Allah forgive every shortcoming in this work, purify every intention behind it, and guide every decision still ahead. May He place barakah in every person who reads, teaches, builds, gives, shares, advises, and makes dua for this mission. May these resources help more people find His Book, understand it more deeply, love it more dearly, and live more fully by its guidance.
May Allah allow the benefit to reach farther, take root more deeply, and continue long after any individual contribution is forgotten.
Ameen.
